Roberts Family Dairy Adventure & Pioneer Trek

The Saturday after graduation, we were graciously invited by Elder & Sister Barton to spend the afternoon at the church's dairy farm and Mosida Lodge in Elberta, Ut. The Barton's are serving a mission here and run the lodge, hosting mini pioneer treks and campouts. They took us on a tour of the church's only dairy farm and a mini handcart trek, then we barbecued some famous Roberts' shish-ka-bobs!
Calvin's first encounter with a barnyard animal. All of the baby cows are kept in separate pens and are taught to eat from buckets.

Here's Cousin Riley, suspiciously looking like he wants to taste whatever is in that bucket.

Calvin with dad and grandma Roberts, who are both sporting the stylish and sanitary plastic booties that are a must for touring the dairy. This is where the cows are milked.

Starting out the handcart trek at the lodge.

Cousin MacKenzie kept Calvin company in the handcart.

Grandma & Grandpa Roberts and Russell & Lindsay in pioneer garb (if that's what you can call Russell tying a flannel shirt around his neck).

We all made it to the Salt Lake Valley - good thing it was only about 2 miles! I don't know how the pioneers did it!
